DBJI Hosts Meeting on Undergraduate Teaching for Chinese and Foreign Faculty

2026-03-31

To further enhance the quality of undergraduate education and strengthen process management in course assessment, the DBJI held a meeting on undergraduate teaching for Chinese and foreign faculty at noon on March 30 in Room D263, Haichuan Building. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Gao Junfeng, the Vice Dean of DBJI, and attended by 11 undergraduate foreign faculty members based in China, along with Undergraduate Academic Affairs Officers.

At the meeting, Prof. Gao Junfeng provided a systematic interpretation of the Supplementary Provisions on Undergraduate Course Assessment at the DBJI. His presentation focused on key areas, including the standards for process-based assessment, the organization of mid-term examinations, management requirements for final assessments, exam formats and discipline, as well as exam grading and material archiving.

The foreign faculty members actively participated in the discussion, drawing on their own teaching experiences. They engaged in a lively exchange of views on such pedagogical issues as the rational weighting of process-based assessment, the diversification of assessment methods, and the fairness of student performance evaluation. They shared strategies and practices they had developed in their teaching and offered constructive suggestions on how to better align with the Institute's teaching management system. The Academic Affairs Office responded to each faculty member's concerns and pledged to further optimize services and support in future work.

The meeting underscored that course assessment is a critical component of undergraduate education, impacting both the fairness and validity of student academic evaluation and the overall improvement of teaching quality. Faculty members are expected to strictly follow the relevant requirements, standardize assessment methods, clarify grading criteria, rigorously enforce examination discipline, and ensure that the entire course assessment process is conducted in a standardized and orderly manner.

The meeting further enhanced faculty members' understanding of the Institute's teaching management system. Moving forward, DBJI will continue to strengthen teaching support and oversight, thereby providing a solid foundation for promoting the standardization of teaching management.
